Dante's Divine Comedy and the Mediaeval Tradition
This course examines the Divine Comedy with emphasis on its roots in the European literary and philosophical tradition, and on the critical problems of the medieval mind. Selections from Dante's minor works are also considered.This course will be taught in English. All books read will be in English and films watched will be in Italian with English subtitles. (lec 3) cr 3. Prerequisites: Ital 2005 or 60 university credits or permission of the instructor. Students may not retain credit for both ITAL 4116 and ITAL 3106.
