Surface Mining Methods

This course covers the basic concepts of open-pit design including determination of the ore reserves and average grade, cut-off grade, stripping ratio, pit slopes, ultimate pit depth, and final pit shape. It also introduces drilling, blast design, pit equipment and slope stability analysis. The basic elements of surface coal mining are considered. PREREQ: ENGR 2106. (lec 3) cr 3.
