Materials Handling

This course examines materials handling technology, including that for bulk materials. The properties of bulk solids are examined and the design criteria for hoppers and feeders are developed. Belt, pneumatic and hydraulic conveying technologies are discussed. Open-pit and underground loading and hauling equipment, such as trucks, loaders, scooptrams and trains are also examined.
