Indigenous peoples steward the most biologically diverse places in the world based on their knowledge, laws, languages and governance structures. The global environmental crisis has generated considerable interest in Indigenous perspectives on the environment. This course offers insights into the knowledge, laws and practices to enable sustainable relationships with the natural world. It addresses the emerging trend to link Indigenous knowledge and western science to solve environmental challenges. Prerequisite: ESOL-1006EL Indigenous Environmental Perspectives & Realities. (lec 3, sem 1) 3 cr.
