Introduction to Teaching and Learning

This course introduces students enrolled in the Concurrent Education Program to the organizational features of the Ontario school system, critical approaches to teaching and learning, elementary lesson planning, and the development and maintenance of the professional portfolio used in Concurrent Education Program. The Ontario College of Teachers' "Standards of Practice" and "Ethical Standard" provides a context for understanding issues as they arise. This course also provides an important foundation for the remaining coursework in the Laurentian School of Education, and will inspire collegiality, collaboration, inquisitiveness and reflective practice habits.
