Engineering Design Optimizatio

This course provides a detailed overview of various local and global optimization algorithms with a focus on their use in a design engineering context. Optimization problems based on the nature of the objective function and constraints are identified, formulated and categorized. Students select appropriate algorithms in order to solve linear and nonlinear optimization problems. Optimization algorithms are applied to various engineering problems through the use of appropriate software. (lec 3) cr 3
